Valerie S. Nesbitt is General Manager, Supplier Diversity
for Delta Air Lines Inc. Valerie joined Delta in 1998 and is responsible for developing and implementing the
corporation's strategy for building and maintaining partnerships with small, minority and women-owned businesses.
Prior to joining Delta, Valerie held the position of Purchasing Manager at Scientific-Atlanta, Inc., where she
was responsible for the purchase of MRO supplies, computer hardware/software, and capital equipment.
In addition to these responsibilities, Valerie also managed and was responsible for implementing a company-wide
supplier diversity program.
Earlier in her career, Valerie spent twelve years with Martin Marietta Specialty Components Inc.
(formerly General Electric) in Largo Florida. During this time she gained an extensive background in
supply chain management and supplier diversity through a variety of assignments including:
Manager Programs & Administration, Specialist Purchasing Programs, and Buyer.
A native of Aiken, South Carolina, Valerie is a Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.), with a bachelor of arts
degree in Psychology from the University of South Carolina and a Masters in Public Administration from Golden
Gate University.
To her credit, Valerie is actively involved in several organizations such as the Georgia Minority
Supplier Development Council, the Florida Minority Supplier Development Council and the US Pan Asian
American Chamber of Commerce - Southeast.
She is the recipient of numerous awards and honors for her business and community contributions, such as the
Florida Minority Supplier Development Council, Chairman's Award, Women Looking Ahead Magazine - 100's List
of Georgia's Most Powerful Women and the Georgia Minority Supplier Development Council, Buyer of the Year. |
