| The Nominating Committee is responsible for developing a slate of candidates for
nomination utilizing specific criteria to ensure a balance in representation relative to gender, ethnicity,
industry, geography, supplier diversity and supply chain professionals. Using a board member composition matrix
(2006) allows the board to better analyze each of these areas and the skill gaps needed to be fill.
The Chair of the Nominating Committee is responsible for maintaining the board quorum at 15, soliciting the
names of potential candidates from board members and general membership, confirming the nomination slate,
handling all correspondence between the board and the candidate, contacting/preparing the board candidates,
conducting the board interview process, and managing the voting process including notification of the
candidates of their status. Every two years the Chair of the Nominating Committee prepares a slate of
officers for submittal to the entire board and the MWBDG members for their vote during the annual meeting.
In the past, a primary source of candidates has been ISM's Charles J. McDonald Award winners (3 past winners
currently serve on the board). The MWBDG membership is also solicited for their interest in serving on the
board and board committees during the annual members meeting and through annual member surveys.
The Nominating Committee Chair operates at the discretion, and under the direction of the Board Chair. |
